It’s a simple rock, paper, scissors game with infantry effective against air, air against armour, and armour against infantry. The game hearkens back to the golden age of RTSs and should remind you of Command & Conquer. While I liked Halo 5, Atriox is undoubtedly the better villain and would’ve made a worthy opponent for the Master Chief. With the downfall of the Prophets and the Covenant fighting amongst themselves, Atriox has invaded the Ark, and the crew of the Spirit of Fire must stop him. He built an entire army, so powerful that the full might of the Covenant could not defeat him, only contain him. Atriox is a Brute who saw his entire tribe used as cannon fodder by the Prophets leading him to question and eventually rebel. Up to now, we have only seen the rebellion led by the Arbiter and have only heard of other smaller rebellions. They come across the Ark and are immediately thrust into conflict with a new Covenant faction known as the Banished, an enemy to both the Covenant and the UNSC.Ītriox and his faction are a fascinating study in rebellion within the Covenant. Halo Wars 2 focuses on the crew of the Spirit of Fire as they awaken from a twenty-eight year cryo-sleep, following the events of the first Halo Wars. Most of us are familiar with the story of the Master Chief and his seemingly one-man crusade against the Covenant, but the Halo universe has expanded over the years to focus on other characters. Halo Wars 2 seeks to build on that, but can it find an audience amongst console gamers and at the same time tempt PC RTS players to the game? Halo Wars was the first game to demonstrate that real-time strategy games could be viable on a console with the limited input from controllers. Halo Wars 2 is the sequel no one asked for to 2009’s game developed by the defunct Ensemble Studios.
